Have you ever noticed that your success or failure in any situation is a reflection of your expectations? If you expect to do well, you will. More importantly, if you expect to fail, you will! What you accomplish is the result of what you believe you can do.
When you believe in yourself and have confidence in yourself, you can achieve anything. A positive self image is the single most important element needed to achieve success. Samuel Johnson in the 1700's said, "Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings."
We all know people, whether in sports, business, love or life, who expect to win no matter what. And more often than not, these people do win. Have you ever wondered why?
It’s because your subconscious mind has a picture of yourself for every situation. That picture determines your success or failure. Your subconscious will do whatever is necessary to keep your life in agreement with your picture. In fact, you will only notice those things that support your picture of yourself. Thus to change your life, you must change this picture.
Anyone who has ever played a sport has at times performed exceptionally well. In fact, you know you played "over your head." Yet, the next time you played you most likely dropped back to your previous level of performance. This is one example of your subconscious mind keeping you in line with your mental picture of yourself. It explains fleeting success and temporary greatness.
We have all heard the expression "flash in the pan." We understand it to mean a one-time glory never again to be repeated. Why does it happen? We explain it to ourselves by saying, "I was lucky. I was really on that day." The reality is that somehow you managed to bypass the mental image you have of yourself and supersede it. This book will show you how to elevate that mental image of yourself so that you can perform at your best over and over again.
